Santhome Fest

We believe that the ability to speak, debate, organize, plan and execute helps a person to progress in life as much as proficiency in academics. Co-curricular activities which bring out the hidden talents of the students are given emphasis here. These activities are co-ordinated and conducted as a week-long festival called Santhome Fest. Every year, new and interesting items are added so that the students are kept abreast of the favoured trends of the modern age.

Quiz

Regular quiz competitions are conducted for all classes on various occasions, the prominent among them being:

1. The Interschool Quiz Competition.

2. Enigma: An Intershool Quiz (State level) on Science and Technology organized by St. Thomas Computer Centre.

3. TCS Quiz.

4. The Hindu Young World Quiz.

5. Sports Quiz in connection with All Kerala ICSE\ISC Sports meet.

6. ESPN Sports Quiz.

7. Kerala Piravi Prashnothari.

Debates and Oratorical Contests

The students regularly participate in various Inter-School competitions and win distinction and accolades. Some of the prominent ones are Frank Anthony Memorial All India Inter-School Debate, Dr. A.V.Varghese Memorial Oratorical Contest, Rendezvous and La Fest.

Inter-School Competitions

The students of St. Thomas Residential School are active participants of Inter-School Competitions such as La Fest, Rendezvous, All Kerala ICSE/ISC Cultural and Sports Meets and various Painting Competitions.

Sports and Games

The athletic and sporting events culminate in the Annual Athletic Meet in which the students take part with great enthusiasm and true sportsman spirit. Interhouse Competitions are held in all most all the field and track events at Pre-primary, Primary, Sub junior, Junior, Senior and ISC levels. The opening and closing functions of this meet are colourful events which provide a feast to the eyes.

The students take part in various tournaments and competitions such as St. Thomas Trophy Basketball, St. Thomas Trophy Hockey, Inter-House Tournaments in Basketball, Hockey and Football, Roller Skating and Cricket matches organized in the school or elsewhere. Such sporting events organized annually help to develop true sportsman spirit,  team spirit and co-operation. These healthy competitions thus help to inculcate social values among children.

Annual Day

The Annual day of STRS is held in January. The achievements of the school during the past year in academic and co-curricular areas are made known to the public and parents. Proficiency prizes and individual Awards are given away and cultural activities are organized that day.

Special Programmes

All special occasions and festivals such as Republic Day, Environment Day, Onam, Independence Day, Kerala Piravi Day, Teacher's Day, Children's Day and Christmas are celebrated with great fervour and enthusiasm. Teacher's day organized by students and Children's Day organized by teachers deserve special mention as these occasions help to forge and strengthen the bond between the student and the teacher. These occasions also instil in the students the spirit of patriotism.

A farewell party is organized for the outgoing students by the students of Std XI as well as by the teachers.
